About Us
Golden Mile Thien Kee Steamboat Restaurant is a well-known eatery located in Golden Mile Tower. We are a family-owned restaurant from Hainan Island - Wen Chang and Qiong Hai (海南岛; 文昌, 琼海). Our history can be traced back to 1952, where we started our humble beginnings as an open food-stall in Middle Road. Due to redevelopment works, the stall was relocated to Golden Mile Tower in 1978 and has been here till today, serving old school comfort Hainanese dishes for the past 70 years.
Today, Golden Mile Thien Kee remains a popular destination for those craving nostalgic Hainanese food in Singapore, in particular our Hainanese Chicken Rice. It has been featured in the media over the years as a heritage brand, retaining the flavors created by our founder.
Started as an open-food stall 大牌档 in Middle Road, selling simple comfort Hainanese dishes. People used to call us the people’s park 中秋园, where people from all walks of life gathered at this area for comfort food after visiting the nearby cinema — Shaw Theatre and amusement park at New World 新世界.
Introduced Hainanese Steamboat 十全火锅 and Beef Steamboat 牛肉火锅.
Relocated to Golden Mile Tower due to Bugis district redevelopment. Transitioned from an open-air food stall to a more comfortable air-conditioned space, and replaced the use of charcoal for our steamboat with gas stove for safety reason.
A recognized heritage brand for authentic Hainanese dishes, Golden Mile Thien Kee Hainanese Restaurant was featured on infotainments such as: - “Timeless Treats -老子号” hosted by popular hosts Michelle Chia and Dasmond Koh - “Taste of History -寻味地图” hosted by popular local celebrity Bryan Wong - “Streets Made for Talking - A Taste of History” hosted by local personality Tiffany Lovage on Channel NewsAsia
Embarked on a rebranding exercise to refresh and connect with our multi-generational and growing customer base.
